The Ukiah Main Street Program’s comedy series promises plenty of laughter
The 2014 Season Opener for Comedy Alley is being held on Saturday, January 25th at the Ukiah Valley Conference Center in Historic Downtown Ukiah. Doors open at 7:00 p.m. and the show begins at 8 o’clock.
Comedy Alley features the hottest nationally acclaimed comedians from the Bay Area and Hollywood, including January’s headliner Mark Pitta.
Mark Pitta began his comedy career on a dare from a friend at a San Francisco Comedy Club open mic night in the 1980’s. Mark’s career flourished in LA first, fulfilling his dream of appearing on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson then subsequent appearances with Jay Leno. Mark landed a job as host of Totally Hidden Video for the FOX Network, playing different characters in hidden camera situations, and then hosting Friday Night Videos for NBC. Pitta went on to make guest appearances on “Mad About You” and “Third Rock from the Sun”. Comedy Central has featured him on several of their regular shows like - Premium Blend, The A-List; Dr. Katz, and Make Me Laugh. For five years Mark appeared on San Francisco Bay Area’s popular television program “Mornings on 2”, where he applied his unique and original “man on street” format; an approach enjoyed by viewers when he interviewed newsmakers, movie stars, and everyday folk. Pitta continues to wow audiences around the world and enjoys helping develop young comedians with his popular Tuesday Night Comedy Series in Mill Valley, California.
Also featured at the January 25th comedy show will be will be Gary Anderson. Gary brings to the stage a special brand of versatility and charisma that is described as relatable, clever and continuously evolving. A former collegiate athlete, Gary has great range sharing his comedic insight on college life, troubled relationships, family struggles, and debunking cultural myths. He’s performed in major clubs, including the Hollywood Laugh Factory, San Jose Improv, Cobb’s and San Francisco Punchline.
Hosting the January show will be Ian Williams. Williams first stepped onto the comedy stage in Chicago in the mid 80’s after graduating from college. By the end of the decade, he had appeared on MTV, A&E, Showtime and Star Search, and later moved to San Francisco. Williams often emcees events throughout the Bay Area. You’ll surely enjoy Ian’s fresh perspective.
Tickets go on sale January 14th and are available at Mendocino Bounty, Dig Music and Creative Workshop. Pre-Sale Tickets are only $18.00 per person or you can purchase tickets at the door for $20.00. Subsequent Comedy Alley shows are scheduled for February 22nd, March 29th and April 26th.
